Cultural Education

In collaboration with art academies, universities, schools and youth organisations from Germany and the Nordic countries, particular emphasis is placed on supporting new young talent and on cultural education. Two projects are planned in the context of NORDWIND 2013:

THROUGH DIFFERENT EYES // Global Stories (Denmark/Germany) in Berlin and Hamburg

In 2011, Danish artist Morten Nielsen set up the pilot project Through Different Eyes together with his company Global Stories. This was put into action with 127 students at several Copenhagen schools. The students, many of whom were from different ethnic backgrounds, changed their identity and gender for a day. The project made it possible for the students to experience a temporary change of identity simply using make-up, clothes or wigs. The young people, thus transformed, were exposed to their environment. Their reports about what they experienced were astonishing. The young people’s impressions often had a strong influence on the perception of the other as well as on their perception of themselves. Their experiences and work have been documented in the film Med andre Øjne (www.medandreøjne.com). Morten Nielsen has previously been a guest at the NORDWIND FESTIVAL with Hostage in 2011. This year he will run the project Through Different Eyes at several schools in Berlin and Hamburg. The results will be presented during the festival in the form of a lecture.
